Do Dallas with Patty

A friend in Dallas who received my e-mail about our Dallas Girls' Trip said her husband was afraid to open the e-mail because he thought it was a porno site. Not!

Our group of 8 had a wonderful time in Dallas. A highlight was a visit to a ribbon shop and a trim shop in Dallas to gather materials (for several hours) to make our very own shaggy boas. We had seen them at Allie Coosh and decided we could invent our own. Mine is spectacular with ribbons and feathers, but Dennis says it looks like fishing lures. ha Girls like it. Marka Bennett says, "You will be seeing me wearing one of those."

Saks Fifth Ave had a one-day 50% off sale almost all chic merchandise, so many of us took advantage of that serindipitous finding. We stayed at the Westin Galleria so we were next door to the best shopping in Dallas. The night we arrived we went downtown for a cultural experience, the Nasher Museum and the Dallas Museum of Art, both spectacular venues for the arts. The Nasher family gave their private collection to Dallas, funded the museum and continues to contribute as board members of the museum. Dinner at Javiars' at 8:30 was an experience. Busy, hot spot for late nighters. Great food, a little over the edge, not your tex mex regular fare.

On Friday, we had private showings at Allie Coosh's designer shop, found some wonderful items to add to our winter wardrobes, placed special orders, bought some designer jewelry pieces, then to Walker Row, an upscale boutique in Highland Park Village. They served lunch for us and it was delightful. We weren't as fortunate here, as the clothing wasn't exactly what each guest expected, but delightful to visit. Then to shop the shops of the Village, including the Women's Exchange, everyone's favorite. Then, tea and dessert at the Bakery. Back to our hotel to get ready for the Dallas Symphony.

The symphony was in Meyerson and was lovely. We had excellent seats and loved the performance.

On Saturday, we went downtown to the convention center to the Chi Omega Christmas Market for a few hours, then to the Victorian Gallary, then to the Primrose Tea Room, but it was too early for tea, so we just walked around the block for a good old hamburger and fries.

Saturday, we were guests of Polly and Ray Gilbert's Topics Group at the Bent Tree Country Club and we met Polly's friends for dinner and a presentation on Argentina by a couple who had just returned from their trip there. Nice.

On Sunday, we went to the Mansion on Turtle Creek for Brunch in our own private dining room, then to Neiman Marcus at Northpark for one more little stop before going to the airport.

Yes, we shopped until we dropped, we enjoyed each other's company and we laughed a lot. We even absorbed a little culture along the way and came away with a sense of Dallas' positive, friendly air.
